A beautiful day for a birthday

Today was a perfect day for my birthday - lots of beautiful sunshine and time with my two adorable peanuts and Terry. Here are a couple of pictures from our romp around the local park.

Kellyn is making the move from just eating baby food to also eating some of our table food. Tonight's menu: broccoli! And as you can see, she thinks it's awesome!

Wii mania hits the Doyle household

Terry's birthday present this year was a wii - and it's become something of an obsession for all of us. Here's Faedon playing Super Mario Race Cars. He thinks it's AWESOME that he can drive a race car!

The world's smartest snowman

Here's an art project Faedon did this winter. Terry and I laugh at it all the time, as Faedon seems to believe it makes more sense that the big ball goes on top to fit all the snowman's brains. So, introducing the world's smartest snowman!

Good thing she's so darn cute....

So Terry is out of town for a few days for work and I am holding down the fort with the kiddos. So far, all has been great except for one thing: Kellyn has decided sleeping is for chumps. So I'm a wee bit tired. What is puzzling to me, is that she doesn't seem the least bit phased by the lack of shut eye! This was the view over my coffee cup at 6 am this morning - one smiley, giggly little girl. Oh, sleep...I miss you!

Open Wide!

This morning was Faedon's first real teeth cleaning at the dentist. The last few times, they just counted his teeth and gave him a sticker and a toothbrush and sent him on his way. This time, he laid in the chair like a big kid and got his pearly whites shined up. He was so brave!

It's Kellyn's World, we just live in it

It would appear only Faedon understands exactly what Kellyn wants: lots and lots of toys. And the undying affection and attention of a big brother.

It's OK, Big Brother's Here.

Faedon loves being a big brother...and his favorite thing to say to Kellyn is "it's OK, big brother's here". And now that Kellyn is getting older and able to "talk," Faedon likes to believe she is talking about him and how much she wants to be around him. So tonight after their bath, he begged me to let Kellyn stay with him and watch his nightly Blues Clues show...he insisted that she really, really wanted to be with him. And you know, I think he just might be right about that.

Magic Moonbeams.

Ash introduced Faedon to Cat Stevens the other day. And now, Faedon's new favorite song is "I'm Being Followed By a Moon Shadow." We hear his little voice finding the words from the back seat, and the refrain is unmistakable. As is the earnestness with which he sings along.

Amaryllis By Morning.

Every day, Faedon and I measure the plant Aunt Dorothy sent and check to see if it needs water. Finally it's blooming like mad, and Faedon couldn't be any prouder. He wanted me to be sure and let Aunt Dorothy know that the Amaryllis was in good hands. And indeed, it is.

My Work Buddy.

Often I sit at the desk in our kitchen and hammer away at my laptop. Kellyn like the space right next to my feet; sometimes sitting, sometimes laying on her belly watching dust bunnies. Today, she some how managed to turn all the way around so she could watch the dog in the other room. From around the corner, covertly.

Her Favorite Spot.

So far, it's sitting in front of the fireplace with dog. She happily hangs out there trying to figure out life's mysteries. Today, it's "How's they get the magnets inside this lion's tail?"
