A quick trip to Whistler

This weekend we left Kellyn and Faedon with some friends and took our snowboards up to Whistler to enjoy a little time in the snow for my birthday...and I was reminded once again that Whistler is the most magical place in the world.

Anything boys can do, girls can do better.

18 months and already raring to keep up with big brother. Kellyn hopped into the skateboard bowl today with Faedon and insisted that we get her rolling on the scooter. Turns out she's a speed demon. I wonder where she gets that from?

Which is which?

One of these is a star of a major motion picture of a classic children's book......and the other is our lovely daughter.

Which one's the wild thing?

Spring is officially here!

Today was about the most beautiful day ever - a wonderful way to usher in Spring. And Faedon, Kellyn and I spent it with our friends (the Childs' family) while Daddy worked his magic on the lathe.

Our friends had taken their boat to the local marina in downtown Seattle as part of a St. Pat's cruise....and we met them at the dock and loped around the most touristy part of Seattle today taking pictures and acting like tourists in our own city. It was amazing.

I think my favorite part was catching this little sea lion napping on the rocks across from the boat. It was precious to see him stretching out his little fins while he slept. But I also love the picture of the seagulls and how the city is reflected in the water.

Such an incredible city we live in. We couldn't be luckier.

Olympic Sculpture Park

Not long after we first moved here, the Olympic Sculpture Park opened - which was basically a free outdoor extension of the Seattle Art Museum with a bunch of giant sculptures. And despite our best intentions, we've yet to make it to the park - even though it's really close to our house. So today while Terry was working on his lathe, I took the kiddos down to the park. Unfortunately it was a bit chilly today....but it was still worth it to check it out. We admired the sculptures for a while before sitting down here for a bit and taking in the view. It's truly a beautiful peaceful place tucked between the hustle of the city and the serenity of the water. Once again I was reminded how lucky we are to live in such a special city.

Happy Birthday Terry!

Continuing the tradition we started last year, we left the kids at home yesterday and went to Crystal Mountain to enjoy a little fun in the snow. And we were lucky to have stunning blue skies, tons of soft snow and wide open runs. What a wonderful way to spend a birthday.
