But, in typical Faedon fashion - he had a very clear idea of how he wanted the house decorated. Namely - he wanted us to make bats and mummies. And he wanted a pumpkin to carve.
So, first let's talk about the bats. We made a bunch of them and Faedon decorated them with the word "FUN" on them and a smiley face.

Why? Well, because he wanted to make sure his guests knew that this was a FUN party, not a scary party. That's also why the bat is smiling.
Next up: the mummies. We bought a big piece of foam, and traced the kids out. Then we cut them out and wrapped them with bandages. Voila! Mummies exactly the size of Kellyn and Faedon! And we put them looking out the front window to greet the guests. My favorite part of this picture? Look at the clouds reflected in the window. Don't they kinda look like a skull? Spoooooky.

And here's a picture of the behind-the-scenes making of the mummies...

Next up: the pumpkin. Well, that one was a problem. No pumpkins in June. So we improvised.

Lastly, here are the 3 lucky guests who spent the night. I didn't get many pictures of them in costume, but I do love this one of Darth and Yoda in battle.

I decided to make Kellyn's costume at the last minute. Not surprising who I made, right?

So all in all, it was a highly successful party - and Faedon has requested that every June 25th from now on out be considered Summer Halloween.
Why not?
