A few years ago, while visiting up in New Jersey, I asked Ashton's dad to ship back a chunk of wood from the farm. A big chunk. Cherry. The tree was down, and I thought I'd like to sort of prove it existed some how. When it got to Seattle, I immediately roughed out a shape, wrapped it in newspaper and set it aside. This Father's Day, Ash gave me the gift of a day to myself, and I took full advantage. Several hours after I started, this bowl emerged. After a few coats of Tung oil, I dried it off and shipped it back to New Jersey. Thanks you Gary, Carol. Thank you Ashton. And most of all, thank you beautiful Cherry tree.
